How to report a safeguarding concern

If you believe someone is at immediate risk of harm, contact emergency services first. For non-emergency safeguarding concerns, contact Paramount Options so the concern can be reviewed and escalated appropriately.

Emergency Guidance

If there is an immediate risk of harm, danger or a medical emergency, call 999 immediately.

Safeguarding concerns that do not require an emergency response can be reported to Paramount Options for review and escalation through the appropriate safeguarding procedures.

Identify the concern

Notice what happened, who is involved, where it happened and whether there is immediate risk.

Record the facts

Write down clear factual details, dates, times, names, observations and any direct words used.

Report promptly

Raise the concern with the appropriate safeguarding lead or contact route as soon as possible.

Follow escalation

Where required, concerns may be escalated to relevant professionals, local authority safeguarding teams or emergency services.

Possible Signs of Concern

Safeguarding concerns can appear in different ways.

Concerns may relate to physical harm, emotional abuse, neglect, financial abuse, exploitation, discrimination, domestic abuse or poor care practice.
